about us

A parenting magazine as you journey through the unique joys and unique challenges of your child’s first five years. Designed to cater to the changing needs and interests of preemie parents, Your Preemie publishes both an annual hospital edition as well as a quarterly. Centered on the throes of those unknown early days, the annual edition covers medical procedures, testing, emotional turmoil, and finally, preparing to take your preemie home. The quarterly edition focuses on the preemie parenting journey following the NICU until the early school years.

unique joys
Gaining an ounce, moving up a diaper size, not using your child’s adjusted age anymore and for some, it's seeing your former 2-pounder in his preschool class and realizing he doesn’t look much smaller than any of the other kids—these are some of the joys that preemie parents experience with an intensity few others can relate to. While all children are miracles, the tiny beginnings of preemies and their fight for life make it hard to forget. No moment is left unappreciated, and every little milestone is a big moment.

unique challenges
And while the joys are all the more joyous, the lows can be so very low. There are tests and monitors and machines, good days and bad and the reality of leaving the hospital without your baby. There are complications and disabilities and often no one who understands. Specialists become a part of life to some parents, as well as the never-ending question "is it a preemie thing?" Issues that arise once school starts are reality for some, as is the effort involved in the continuation of advocating for your preemie.

the first five years
Preemies' needs change over time, which is why Your Preemie is designed to help get the information and support parents need in every stage. In our annual hospital edition, we’re there with you from bedrest and in the NICU; through our quarterly issues we continue with you on your journey those first crazy years with your infant and toddler, right through preschool and as you prepare to send your preemie off to kindergarten. We cover issues on everything ranging from sleep to behavior to disabilities to potty training. While many publications cover similar issues, we always keep your preemie in the forefront.
